THE SHORT ANSWER

ETL extracts, transforms, and loads data between systems; ELT performs transformation after loading into a destination. On Beat Digital uses SQL, Python, Pandas, and distributed processing where appropriate to connect source data to reporting, segmentation, and operational workflows.

A useful data pipeline needs more than a successful scheduled job. Its output has to represent the right entities, preserve the intended meaning, and arrive in a form the consuming team or application can actually use.

Relevant experience

SQL and Python are recurring parts of our analytics, API, automation, and application work. Our enterprise integration history includes cross-system transformations, account relationships, validation, deduplication, reconciliation, and downstream marketing datasets.

Ingestion with a clear source contract

We identify how data is available, what access is required, and what each record represents. APIs, database queries, CSV and spreadsheet exports, JSON, SFTP transfers, and cloud storage can all be part of an integration, but each has different refresh and failure behavior.

The source contract records identifiers, expected fields, timestamps, deletion or update behavior, and known limitations. That prevents a pipeline from depending on a spreadsheet column, an API default, or an undocumented field interpretation nobody owns.

Transformation and entity relationships

SQL, Python, and Pandas can support cleaning, type conversion, lookup logic, aggregation, and dataset preparation. PySpark becomes relevant when the environment and workload call for distributed processing. We select the approach around the source estate and operating needs.

Identity and hierarchy work deserves particular attention. Contact, account, product, equipment, and contract records need explicit relationships. Deduplication should follow an agreed rule, and unmatched or ambiguous records need an exception path rather than disappearing silently.

Validation and reconciliation are deliverables

Quality checks can examine required fields, uniqueness, acceptable values, row counts, relationships, and changes across refreshes. We connect those checks to the business consequence of a failure: an incorrect audience, an incomplete report, or an operational action based on stale data.

Reconciliation compares sources and destinations using compatible definitions and reporting periods. It should explain expected differences and surface unresolved ones. A matching grand total is not sufficient evidence that the joins and classifications underneath it are correct.

Repeatable runs and maintainable handoff

We design how a pipeline is scheduled, rerun, corrected, and monitored within the agreed scope. That includes the treatment of partial failures, changed source records, duplicate deliveries, and delayed inputs.

The operating handoff should tell the next engineer where the rules live and how a stakeholder can interpret the output. Version-controlled transformations, data dictionaries, quality results, and documented ownership make the system easier to maintain as business requirements evolve.

Questions & answers

Do you only work with marketing data?

No. Our integration work spans customer, account, product, equipment, contract, operational, and behavioral information. The data model is defined around the business question and the sources available.

When would you use Pandas rather than PySpark?

The choice depends on volume, execution environment, existing architecture, and operational needs. We do not introduce distributed infrastructure merely to process a dataset that a simpler workflow can handle well.

Can you take over an existing pipeline?

Yes. We can review source contracts, transformations, joins, quality checks, refresh behavior, and downstream dependencies, then prioritize improvements without assuming the entire system needs replacement.
